ACADEMIC JOURNEY WITH T10

TSL014: FUNDAMENTAL OF READING

First of all, this is my favourite subject during my Foundation of TESL's journey. The lecturer in charged in teaching us is Sir Nik Muhd Afiq , who is our mentor for this semester. This subject is easy during the learning process but very hard to score. Every Monday, the first subject is Fundamental of Reading and Sir Afiq will start the class with sharing session. Sharing session is a session where we will share anything that we want for example our bad day or a story that taught us some lessons. What a good thing to start our Monday! Sometimes Sir Afiq will ask us to do past year questions and we will discuss together through Google Meet. Other than that, we already did two assignments which is we have been told to write a journal based on the article given. I got 8/10 for my first assignment! I personally enjoy every class with Sir Afiq because he is very kind and full of consideration. I hope T10 will meet again with Sir Afiq for the next semester.

TSL024 : FUNDAMENTAL OF ACADEMIC READING

Firstly, this subject is the hardest subject for me throughout this semester. I used to have skills in writing essay during my high school years but i lost it. I feel like what i learnt in university is totally different. During mid-semester exam, my score is really bad and i did not have enough time to answer the questions. Luckily, Madam Natasha, the lecturer who taught us this subject is so kind and ready to answer all my questions. She is very understanding and the 'mother' vibes in her is so strong. Some of us including me always ask the same questions because this subject is so hard especially we have to learn only through Google Meet with no whiteboard at all but Madam Natasha answered each of us patiently. She always asked us "is it too much for today?" , she really understand our situation through out this ODL session. I hope i can score this subject for my final as Madam Natasha gives her everything to teach us.

TSL034 : FUNDAMENTALS OF LISTENING AND SPEAKING

Listening and Speaking is the only subject that i had learn normally with my other classmates. We practiced our MUET examination with the respective lecturer, Miss Sakinatul Ain. Miss Sakina helped us a lot with our pronunciation and listening skills. I am not fluent in speaking but Miss Sakina really helped me to build my confidence to speak fluently. I am still trying my best and i choose Miss Sakina as my role model as i love how she is very systematic in teaching us. Her pronunciation is really good, i can hear she talks for the whole day. I really enjoy every class with her because i always learn something new and i got to know more about pronunciation and communication skills. Moreover, we had to do an assignment which is a demonstrative speech video recently, it was so hard for us because most of us are in college. Some of us choose to cook but they do not have any equipment and ingredients to cook. Luckily, Miss Sakina extended the dateline to make sure we are ready to shoot our video. She is really kind because she said she knows we have to submit other assignments too in the same week. I am beyond grateful that all my lecturers never make us feel stress.

TSL 041: GRAMMAR I

Firstly, i really love this subject since i was in primary school because grammar rules never change even in university level. My lecturer for this subject is Madam Fatimah Az Zahra, she is a soft spoken person. I love the way she taught us, she will refreshed our mind first before the class started. She always trying her best to make us understand why it must be like this and like that. I find that it is easy to understand grammar when i learnt with Madam Fatimah. She always smile brightly in every class, i really want to have a face to face class with her. All the materials that she had prepared for us are really useful, she often does a mock test too. I love grammar mock test because in my opinion, grammar needs more practice if we really want to score this subject. I am so thankful that Madam Fatimah is my lecturer for this subject and i hope i will score better for my final exam compared to mid-semester exam.

TSL051 : COLLEGE STUDY SKILLS

First of all, this is the subject that makes me think TESL is an amazing course! The lecturer is the one and only , Miss Shanaa Fatihah, who is a very happy go lucky person. College study skills literally taught us everything such as how to manage stress and how to do a mindmap. I find this subject interesting and all the things that Miss Shanaa taught us are very helpful for me as a student. Miss Shanaa also makes me feel closer with lecturer because she always asked us to share our feelings and experience. Since the third week, we have to do a task named Social Media Diary, we have to upload a video every week on our social media account. I am so amazed with Miss Shanaa about how she had to watch our videos every week and give us marks. I am so thankful for the marks and the opportunity given for us to share our thoughts in a video. Every activity for this subject is really good and beneficial for every one. This subject literally gives us assignments that we will do with a smile.

TSL082 : INTRODUCTORY LITERATURE

Literature is one of the hardest subject for me because i am not the type that can understand things behind the story. Our lecturer is Madam Nagamany Govindan , people may think she is a firm lecturer but actually she is a very nice person. She is just like a mother to our class. She always asked us to think outside the box and do not make our own speculation about a story. Sometimes she held a discussion on Google Classroom and commented on our opinions. Literature class is only once a week but i think i had learnt so many things every week. My worst experience is when my group's presentation was rejected by her and we had to present and changed our points. So after two days, we had a consultation with her and she explained every single details about why our points are invalid and we finally succeed with our presentation. She is the lecturer that every students need indeed.

CTU071- FUNDAMENTALS OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION

This subject also is one of my favourite subject! It feels that i learnt a history. Our lecturer is Madam Norida Abdul Kadir, she is the best lecturer i have ever met. She always said that she understands how this ODL session is suffocating for us. She is like our mother that always give us advices during our hard time. Madam Norida also loves to share story about our Prophet Muhammad SAW and we always learnt something from her story. She is also full of consideration, she always asked us to focus more on the hardcore subject. In my opinion, her class feels like the place where i can feel relieved after struggling.
